UMSK International Championships 2017 – October 21st.
Team Karen & Wojtek travelled to Reykjavik, Iceland to participate in the 2017 UMSK International Championships.
This was our second year to join this great competition and our dancers showcased Irish Ballroom and Latin dancing to such a high standard on an international setting.
Our dancers all performed superbly and we achieved great results. It was also a great opportunity for our dance school to meet and mingle with the competition organisers from UMSK Iceland who organised a wonderful dance event and were also great hosts during our stay. We look forward to growing our relationship and hopefully returning next year again!
And our amazing results were…
Hannah Rowe & Beau McGowan – 1st place Juvenile Latin All-Girls
Justin Plesca & Erika Calin – 3rd place in Juvenile Ballroom
Sean Doyle & Megan Elliott – 6th place Junior 2 Latin
Sebastian Calin & Avah Wall – 7th place Juvenile Latin
3 of our couples took to the dance floor, with this event being the first time two new partnerships danced competitively together – Hannah Rowe/Beau McGowan and Sebastian Calin/Avah Wall. Both these new couples danced amazing and we are in no doubt that they will continue to flourish on the Juvenile circuit. Hannah & Beau secured 1st place in Juvenile Latin All-Girls. Justin & Erika achieved 3rd place in Juvenile Ballroom and also reached the very tough semi-final round in Latin where Sebastian & Avah were just 1 place away from the big final finishing 7th.
We have lots of great moments from the competition but one of our favorites is Justin & Erika taking to dance floor for the Chacha.
For our amazing couple Sean Doyle & Megan Elliott this was their grand entrance to the extremely tough level of Junior 2 Latin. As always, these two power-horses didn’t disappoint and danced through 3 immensely tough rounds to finally secure the 6th place spot. To demonstrate the excitement of their grand final we have shared some videos clips of them doing the Passo doble and Samba and we hope that you will enjoy watching as much as the crowd did on the day.
A trip to Iceland would be wasted without visiting one of the words natural wonders – The Blue Lagoon. We had an amazing time at The Blue Lagoon and it allowed us all some relaxation and fun during our trip.
What’s next for Team Karen & Wojtek…?
Our students are now back in the studio training hard for the next competition which is in less than 5 days. The hard work never stops when you are training to be the BEST!
